Prince Edward Islands Most Beautiful Beaches

PEI is a stunningly beautiful island, so it’s not surprising that it has more than its fair share of gorgeous beaches! Whether you want to check out the tourist favorites or a secluded beauty, we’ve got a rundown of the island’s best spots to soak up the sun.

Singing Sands Beach

Not only is Singing Sands often considered the best beach in Canada, but it also has some of the warmest waters north of Florida! It gets its name from the squeaking sounds made when walking on the sand, which is super fine and contains high levels of quartz and silica.

Cavendish Beach

Arguably the most popular beach on the Island, Cavendish Beach offers its visitors long stretches of white sand and beautiful views of the iconic red cliffs. The beach lies in Prince Edward Island National Park, so if you want a break from the beach (which we doubt you will!), you can enjoy the many other activities that the park has to offer, including hiking, cycling, and geocaching.

Greenwich Beach

If you prefer a little more privacy on your beach day, then be sure to head over to Greenwich. It’s also located in the PEI National Park and shares the same white sands and picturesque boardwalks as Cavendish but without all of the crowds.

Jacques Cartier Beach

Join locals here every July to celebrate and commemorate the arrival of PEI’s first European visitor, Jacques Cartier. Aside from this annual party, the beach is a beautiful and perhaps more rustic alternative to some of the island’s more popular spots.

Brackley Beach

Brackley Beach is the perfect beach to visit if you’re staying in Charlottetown. The beach, which lies just 15 minutes outside the city, boasts white sand, dunes, and nearby activities, including a gallery, mini golf, and a drive-in theater.

Cedar Dunes Beach

Located off the main tourist routes, in Cedar Dunes Provincial Park, Cedar Dunes receives fewer visitors than the other beaches on this list, which is one of the reasons why we love it! There’s a good chance you’ll want to stay for a few days, so consider camping in the park or spending a night at the West Point Lighthouse—an inn located inside a functioning lighthouse!
